New Doughty
Ooh, Mike Doughty's posted a couple new songs on his MySpace profile. Well, "27 Jennifers" isn't actually new -- we've played previous versions of it on the show, in fact -- but it's got a big ol' band with it now (and an honestly kinda weird noodly solo in the middle of it) -- and it mostly rawks. "Girl in the Blue Dress" is new, and I rather like it too ("I love your baby fat/Your crooked nose is where it's at" is a nice couplet, no?).
For kids? Not really. But I like it.
Incidentally, his blog is worth a regular read, though again: not for the kids. Unless they want to see him getting a tattoo. And they might.

I'm catching this late, late at night. I love me some Doughty. You know, my littlest little was with me at the market the other day. the checker had her arms completely tattooed. my girl looked not at her but at me and said "mommy, I want a tattoo". I'll hold off on showing her the blog and let her listen to the tunes. She sings melody more than lyrics for now. And she's got a good fourteen years of tattoo decision making ahead of her.
